Silk-screening is very popular process used to produce most t-shirts now days. The benefits offered by such method of printing are beyond comparison.
Screen printing, also known as Silk-screening or serigraphy, is a printing method that usually creates a sharp edged single color image using a stencil and a fabric. In electrical terms, silkscreen refers to the writing on a printed circuit board. This method maybe used in etching copper wiring on a circuit board. Silkscreen printing is most commonly used for t-shirts, garments and other fabrics. It is also used on ceramic objects, metal, wood, paper, glass, and synthetic items. Here we will understand how Silk screening is used to create creative and imaginative styles on your T-shirts.
First step is to set up the printer and then adjust the screen so that the image is where you want it to be. Then place the ink in the screen and then slowly and carefully remove the screen from the frame.
After that spray the textile adhesive on the t-shirt platton and then place a test pellon on the t-shirt platoon. Slowly spread the ink over the screen to print an image as desired. It is hard to see that there is a test pillion down on the board. It’s placed under the flash dryer to cure it. Flash dryer is the red box with a wood handle it heats up to 350 degrees to completely dry and cure the ink so it won't wash off it takes about 1 minute to cure the ink.
Place your plain t-shirt on the platton, taking the test pellon off because it is done placing the screen on the t-shirt to print it. The registration brackets are helpful as they keep the screen in place while you are printing. Also if you print more than one colour they keep all the colours locked in the position you set them at. After printing place the t-shirt on the second board (drying board) to cure it under the flash dryer. While the first t-shirt is drying you can print another one. You can print a one colour print every minute, that’s the additional advantage.
When the first t-shirt is dry and we are removing it and placing the second one under the flash dryer and here the second shirt goes under the dryer so I can print the third.
